IT Infrastructure Overhaul for Multi-Location Manufacturer
A precision parts manufacturer with multiple facilities had no centralized IT and a weak security posture. We brought the sites under one IT strategy and prepared them to meet customer SOC 2 requirements.
Details anonymized. Outcomes described at a high level.
The Challenge
Each site had grown its own IT setup. Different networks, backups, and security tools — or none at all. There was no shared visibility, no consistent patching, and no disaster recovery plan. After close calls with ransomware, leadership wanted a real program in place. A major customer was also starting to require SOC 2 from suppliers, which put a key relationship at risk.
Our Approach
- 1Assessed network topology, endpoints, backups, security posture, and SOC 2 gaps across all sites.
- 2Designed and deployed a unified network with standardized equipment, centralized management, and site-to-site connectivity so policy could be enforced consistently.
- 3Rolled out endpoint detection and response across workstations and servers, replacing a mix of consumer-grade antivirus.
- 4Moved collaboration, email, and backup to the cloud while keeping latency-sensitive manufacturing systems on-premises.
- 5Set up centralized monitoring, alerting, and a single help desk so employees had one place to go regardless of site.
- 6Documented the policies, procedures, and controls needed for SOC 2, and supported them through the audit process.
